What is GLP-1 injection?

Self-administered diet injections

In Japan, GLP-1 injection (GLP-1 receptor agonist) is one of the incretin-related drugs and is approved by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare to help treat type 2 diabetes. It is expected to amplify insulin in a blood glucose-dependent manner, suppress glucagon secretion, and reduce body weight.

Characteristics of GLP-1 receptor agonists

GLP-1 is a hormone secreted in the small intestine. It binds to GLP-1 receptors in the beta cells of the pancreas to promote insulin secretion and is used as a drug to aid in the treatment of diabetes in adults with type 2 diabetes who are obese due to overeating or overweight in the pre-diabetic population.

In addition to the pancreas, it acts on the brain and stomach to suppress appetite and slow the excretion of stomach contents, resulting in a sustained feeling of fullness. This in turn reduces overeating and snacking. It is approved in Europe and the United States for the treatment of obesity.

The weight loss is achieved by injecting once a day at home.

Patients are well supported under the internal medicine consultation of Director Kiri Katagiri and full-time internal medicine physicians!

  1. Consultation: A specialist physician will interview the patient and explain the details of the treatment.
  2. We will prescribe a GLP-1 formulation after BMI measurement and blood sample collection.
*We reserve the right to refuse treatment to those who are inappropriate for treatment.
  3. Explanation of GLP-1 injection usage: A nurse will carefully explain the specific usage and how to administer the injection.
*Needless to handle needles, etc., operation is simple and painless.
